Sweetening life’s special moments, one delicious memory at a time!

#EatTheCakeAnyways

I take a lot of pride in all my baking. You don’t see pictures of incomplete work and definitely not my baking failures. However, I have had my fair share and will continue to have them as I am human. Today was definitely one…however, I found such joy in it that I wanted to share it.

Like every mom (and most dads) I wear the badge of exhaustion and burned out! This many times stills my joy. Life is stressful and we have can all agree that 2020 has be very stressful. This has definitely affected my joy of baking but I will say it is still my greatest passion! After a stressful few months I have not been in the mood for Thanksgiving (my absolutely favorite holiday)but have been looking forward to down time and being off. So this morning I was in such an amazing mood to bake…feeling a lot more like myself. I had music blasting and everything was moving and grooving!

Making a coconut cake for a dear friend and her family. Truly happy and enjoying the morning…till I put the 3rd layer on the cake to ice. That’s when the top layer cracked all the through….and a charger is the closest thing I have to use and save the rest of the cake…
So that’s what I did. Then the only logical thing to do after that is get a fork!! 🤣🤣

I truly found this hilarious and found real joy in seeing my “failure”. It is still a delicious layer of cake and totally salvageable…not for serving others maybe but why throw it out!?

I am thankful that God loves me despite my failures! Grateful for reminders of his love even if it’s joy in a broken cake!
